This morning we heard from Clare and Joel, who reflected some more on recent Q content and brought their take on the topic of emotions and how we best include them in daily life, without overemphasising them or giving them misplaced authority.
Clare began with a clip from Desperate Housewives in which Brie’s love for her daughter becomes synonymous with perfecting icing on a birthday cake. It does not quite go to plan!
Clare shared how she is learning how to stay connected from a Buddhist concept about near and far enemies.
“We like to fix and control and can sacrifice connection.”
Joel builds on the topic by exploring subconscious evaluation vs more reliable, conscious ‘verdict’. He invites us to add a line of enquiry to life:
“Do I have enough information to reach a conclusion or do I need to check the premises?”
